We’re excited to announce a partnership and integration of Secret’s Confidential Computing Layer with Etherlink, a fast, fair, and nearly free L2 EVM solution, powered by Tezos Smart Rollups technology! Through this partnership, Secret Network will provide Etherlink with decentralized confidential computing (DeCC)  tooling, documentation, and support. This will unlock new functionality for upcoming applications in the Etherlink ecosystem.

Some examples of what this can enable are encrypted order books for Etherlink DeFi applications, private voting for Etherlink DAOs, encrypted storage for various types of Etherlink applications, secure random number generation for Etherlink games, confidential data access via Etherlink NFTs, and sealed-bid auctions for all types of assets!

By integrating Secret’s Confidential Computing Layer with Etherlink, we’re providing cutting-edge DeCC tooling an early-stage blockchain, and we’re excited to see what gets built!

What is Etherlink?

Etherlink is a non-custodial, EVM-compatible Layer 2 blockchain powered by Tezos Smart Rollups. It’s permissionless, inherits Tezos Layer 1 security, and features a decentralized governance model, fraud proofs, and censorship resistance. Etherlink is being built to attract more developers and dApps from the EVM ecosystem. It’s fast, fair and (nearly) free with extremely low transaction costs, and features MEV protection by design.

In contrast to Ethereum’s smart contract-based rollups, Etherlink distinguishes itself by its integration into Tezos layer 1 as an “enshrined” rollup. This unique integration not only fortifies its security by eliminating common smart contract risks, but also grants it the status of a first-class citizen on the Tezos mainnet, offering enhanced underlying infrastructure.

The integration ensures complete decentralization, eliminating the necessity for administrative keys or centralized bridges, thus mitigating potential censorship risks. Moreover, Etherlink’s upgradability is facilitated through Tezos’ established on-chain governance system, enabling community-driven development and progression.

Start Utilizing Confidential Computing on Etherlink

Etherlink is currently in Mainnet beta, with a launch planned for Q2 2024. To start building on testnet, check out Etherlink’s developer documentation. This provides instructions on setting up a wallet, connecting to the network, and deploying a contract.

Next, check out Secret Network’s Confidential Computing Layer landing page to get an overview of how it works, and example use-cases for inspiration. From there you’ll find multiple links to our documentation, including the EVM developer toolkit. This page includes tutorials for applications you can build, and information on connecting your Etherlink application to Secret!

Secret’s Partnership with Etherlink

We’re excited to support Etherlink as they near their mainnet launch, and provide dedicated support to their upcoming developer ecosystem! In addition to today’s announcement, we’re also discussing future collaborations such as joint hackathon bounties and grants, developer workshops, and in-person and virtual events. We hope to see many successful projects built as a result of this partnership!
