We’re excited to announce the winners of HackSecret 3!
This hackathon received 46 project submissions, ranging from various Web3 use-cases like DeFi, gaming, social media, healthcare, NFTs, AI, and meme coins. In the end we chose 5 of the highest quality projects as winners. These projects demonstrated skillful use of Secret Network’s decentralized confidential computing capabilities.
HackSecret 3 featured two distinct tracks: Cross-Chain dApps and Native Secret dApps. For Cross-Chain dApps, participants needed to develop applications that implemented cross-chain communication between a contract on Secret and a contract on another blockchain, in order to utilize Secret’s decentralized confidential computation. For the Native Secret dApp track, participants needed to build their dApp solely on Secret Network.
Let’s take a look at what they built!
Cross-Chain dApps Track
EVM.bet
EVM.bet is a decentralized application designed to revolutionize the way online prize draws are conducted. By leveraging Secret VRF for randomness, EVM.bet ensures that prize draws are both secure and transparent. Users can enjoy the excitement of instant prize draws, confident that the results are fair and verifiable. This application is built to be EVM-compatible, utilizing Secret Network’s Confidential Computing Layer to obtain randomness cross-chain.
The global online gaming market is projected to grow significantly, and there is a rising demand for secure and transparent gaming platforms. EVM.bet fits into this market by combining the benefits of blockchain technology with the privacy-preserving features of Secret Network.
UMA Optimistic Oracle
This project from the Satoshi’s Palace team bridges UMA's Optimistic Oracle to Secret Network via secure contract state and Axelar GMP.
Integrating UMA's Oracle with Secret Network allows for the writing of complex data onto the blockchain, which supports advanced applications like:
Privacy-preserving prediction markets
Regulated financial and medical protocols requiring real-time data and user confidentiality
Private lending and insurance protocols
How It Works
Posting a Contest:
A contest consisting of an ID and event details (including the UMA request query) is posted to the Prediction Market smart contract on Secret Network.
Querying Contests:
The SP-Relayer node continuously queries the PM contract for new contests that need resolution.
The query returns contest information and a signature verifying the data originated from the contract.
Initializing the Market:
The SP-Relayer parses the query content to initialize a new Market (question/request) on the Sepolia SP-UMA-Request contract through a Sepolia network transaction.
Asserting an Answer:
An answer is asserted as truthful and enters a dispute window, during which it can be challenged.
Settling the Outcome:
If the answer is not challenged during the dispute window, the SP-Relayer node settles the outcome.
This action triggers the Axelar GMP route back to the SP-Answer Secret contract on Secret Network.
Bet Resolution:
When a user claims their bet, the Prediction Market/Contest contract queries the Answer contract for the bet's resolution.
Secret Headstash
This project leverages Secret Network to enable owners of Ethereum wallets to claim airdrops privately on Secret.
Users shouldn’t have to jeopardize their personal data in order to participate in airdrop campaigns, but on the vast majority of blockchains today, they do. This project provides a solution to this. It will verify ownership of an Ethereum wallet, and then allow the owner to receive an airdrop in an authorized Secret Network wallet, with the privacy that the SNIP-20 token standard offers.
Native Secret dApps Track
Free Market Public Goods
When public goods funding is monopolized by a few decision-makers, the efficiency of the system doesn’t typically remain the number one priority. The voice of the community can’t be heard because power - and its corresponding incentives - are misaligned.
This project is a smart contract framework allowing for funding distribution based on staked token voting weight. Here’s how it works:
Stake your tokens to gain voting power.
Enter your preferred fund allocation percentages, which must total 100%
Your allocation preferences are averaged with those of other stakers to reach a consensus on fund distribution
This governance implementation fits in markets where public goods funding is critical, such as community projects, non-profits, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). It empowers stakeholders by giving them direct control over fund allocation, ensuring their interests are represented and leading to more effective and accountable public goods institutions.
Philanthropy Matrix
This project is a charity NFT donation service that integrates blockchain technology with user-friendly experiences. It allows users to join charity groups as either admins or regular members. Regular members can propose donations and instantiate approved donation NFTs, while admin users have the authority to approve and reject donation proposals, and remove donations. This structure ensures that directors can manage administrative tasks using familiar username and password logins, while tech-savvy users can utilize Keplr for on-chain activities.
Designed to make blockchain a crucial yet seamless part of the project, this platform appeals to both technical and non-technical users. By allowing directors to handle approvals and administrative functions while delegating the on-chain finalization to others, it creates a balanced environment that enhances efficiency without overwhelming users with blockchain complexity. This approach not only ensures the secure and transparent management of donations but also makes blockchain technology more accessible and less intrusive.
Looking Forward
With HackSecret 3 now behind us, and a fresh batch of secret contracts now available as a reference for future developers, we’ve already begun planning for the next Secret Network hackathon.
What would you like to see built? Is there a killer dApp on another blockchain that you think the Secret Network ecosystem needs? Maybe one that could be improved through the addition of decentralized confidential computing (DeCC)? Join the Secret Network community on Telegram or Discord, and let us know your thoughts.
If you’re a developer, also be sure to check out our other funding opportunities, like the Secret Network Grants Program, and our SCRT bounty in the Kakarot zkEVM hackathon.
Happy building!
